Back to Easter

Easter was forever ago, I know, but with the move and all blogging was put on the back burner, but I had to blog about Easter.
We went to Oregon to see my side of the family. We stayed with my sister and her wonderful family. We used to live there too and every time we visit we are reminded of just how much we miss being close to them.
It was a fun, crazy trip! I only say crazy, because Myles learned how to climb out of his play pen the first night and we had to wrestle him (literally) into a bed.
My parents had a fun Easter egg hunt with the kids and so did my sister's neighbors.
Here are some pics of the fun times!!

My good friend Andrea, who's a photographer, came to visit and surprised me by taking pics of the kids. These are just two of my faves, but all of them came out so beautiful! Thanks Andrea!!

She really captured their personalities.

Miss Wynni Boo turned 6 months while we were there. Goes way too fast!

Myles got his first and hopefully last black eye . While we were wrestling him into bed he headbutted the windowsill. Poor guy!

Myles and Kurt

Myles is always talking about Kurt and going to Kurt's house. Then when we got there he was super shy, which I think weirded Kurt out a little bit. This was as close together as we could get them for a picture.

Cousins Lauren and Nedra at the Easter egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa Baird's house.

We brought our band hero stuff and got a little into it with my sister's kids. They were so much fun!

Lauren in mid-dance move! She's a serious dancer!

Rockin' out with Uncle Kenny!

Such a fun trip!! We miss you Oregon! Thanks for having us!!

All Tangled up!!

The New Rapunzel Do!

So Short!!!

Flynn Rider and "Eujane"
Baby Punz

So I know I have about a million posts that should come before this post, but I just wanted to post this real quick.

These last couple weeks we've been sick with terrible colds. So I asked my sister-in-law if we could borrow the movie Tangled. We all just LOVE that movie so it was nice to watch it over and over again while blowing our noses! :)

Myles loves to "play" Tangled. He is Flynn Rider, Daddy is Eujane (Eugene Fitzherbert), Mommy is Rapunzel or Tangled, and Wynni is Pascal (Rapunzel's camillion) or sometimes she gets to be baby Rapunzel (Baby Punz). It's so fun, because Myles will run around asking me where is "satchel" is. His Auntie Tess made him a little bag that is now his "satchel." It's darn cute hearing him say "satchel."

Anyway, I also cut my hair. Like really cut my hair. First time in my life I've cut it this short. I was hoping it would turn out like Reese Witherspoon's hair in Sweet Home Alabama, but Kenny and I both agreed that it looks more like Rapunzel's at the end of Tangled. I'm still getting used to it and I'm not sure I will ever do it this short again, but it was brave and kinda fun.

Accidentally in Love

When we moved here two years ago I never imagined I'd fall in love with this place. Walla Walla has always been a stepping stone for us, so for the most part I tried to keep a safe distance from liking this place too much. But alas, the land of Walla Walla has won me over and I'm in love with it!

But now, a new stepping stone has come into our lives and we are leaving Walla Walla. I'm so sad! Not only is the town of Walla Walla adorable, the people are so great. I LOVE this ward! We've made some really great friends here that we'll never forget.

So where are we going? Ely, Nevada. Go look on a map. It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. However, Kenny's parents live there, so we won't be completely alone. Also, Kenny and I have been praying for a long time that he'd find a new job. A job that would enable him to go to church every Sunday, and one that would allow us, as a couple, to have more time together. Heavenly Father has blessed Kenny and our little family with a new job there working for a mining company.

We leave this Saturday for our new stepping stone. I've learned that Heavenly Father really wants me to enjoy these stepping stones in life rather than just put up with them waiting for the end prize. So I'm going to try really hard and find the charm that must be hidden in Ely, Nevada. :)

We'll miss you Walla Walla!!! Thanks for being spanking awesome!

Here are a few places in Walla Walla that we love. They all happen to be on Main St.

Inland Octopus

The coolest toy store ever!

It's pricey, but so fun!

This is the mural painted above the Inland Octopus sign.

Of course Walla Walla knew the way to my heart was through candy!
Bright's Candies
This is the cutest candy shop!
You can watch the candy man dip chocolates and things.
I just love this place!

Book and Game
I'm in LOVE with this bookstore.
Of course it's more expensive than WalMart, but as cheesy as this sounds, this store just speaks to me. Every time I walk in I just wanna stay for hours.

The Bus!
The buses here are these little trolley cars.
Adorable!
So adorable!
We are going to ride one before we leave.

WE LOVE YOU WALLA WALLA!!!

She's Amazing!

For those of you who have seen Will Ferrell's movie Talladega Nights (from '06 and while I haven't seen it myself I am pretty confident that the previews were the best part) he says a prayer which reads in part:

"Thank you for my sons Walker and Texas Ranger (that part is just funny and has no bearing on my post) and for my smokin hot wife!" (That's what this post is about!)

Jandi recently posted a comment for my benefit that said that I was fairy-tale handsome, oh-so-creative, and able to learn whatever skill I choose at the drop of hat, whether it be cake decorating or bow hunting skills.

Okay, okay. She just said I was talented. But here's the interesting bit. She left out the part about how talented SHE is.

Jandi just recently accomplished a feat of such daring and terrific skill that she deserves an award. More than an award she deserves a star on the hollywood walk of fame, if for nothing else, then for the game-changing revolution that she has started.

Entertainers beware there's a new girl in town.

Here's a breakdown of what she did. She played three instruments on band hero; AT THE SAME TIME. I know, it's MADNESS!

First off, she was playing the guitar. Next, because we don't have a stand, she sang into a microphone tucked into her shirt. And if that wasn't amazing enough, she played the drums, with her FEET.

And to top it off... It's on video, but we couldn't get it to work on here so a picture will have to suffice...for now. I'll try and get the video on youtube later.

Stay tuned for more... I hear rumors that she will play a Spice Girls song.

Nemo Cake!

Kenny and I decided that we needed to start doing a project together each week. For our first week, we made a cake! A Nemo cake! It was a lot of fun to do together. It even taught us about each other and our relationship. It was funny, because we both agreed that doing this together was kind of hard for us, because we both wanted to do everything without help from the other. So, we learned to share the responsibilities! :) It was fun for sure. I think next time we're going to try making two mini cakes so we can both have full creative control over our own cakes. But making it together was really fun.
Katniss and Peeta :)

Our fondant balls all ready to go into the refrigerator.

We made our own marshamallow fondant. It was fun and tastes way better than store-bought. Our lemon pound cake with lemon butter-cream frosting. We made the cake and frosting this time.
Putting the fondant on.
Our finished product!

Kenny and I both agreed that it was way rich, but no one else agreed with us.
All different angles of our cake.

We both made the characters. I think that was the hardest part to share. We both wanted to make them. Kenny is a much better artist than I am, so he did the more detailed characters.

Peeta high-fiving Katniss on a cake well done!

My Cake Boss :)

My dear-heart of a husband is without a doubt the most talented person I know. His greatest talent is acquiring or learning whatever skill or talent he wants to in little or no time at all. There are days where he literally wakes up and says, "I want to learn how to do..." And then that day he learns how to do it and do it well. A few weeks ago, he woke up saying he wanted to make a cake for his boss' 20 year anniversary with the company. Kenny and I both have been wanting to try our hand at cake decorating, especially using fondant. Well, Kenny woke up and did it. He wouldn't even let me help with this. This was all him. He made a lemon pound cake. So yummy! He didn't make the frosting or the fondant, but just wait till our next post! :)
My Cake Boss! :)

Isn't he amazing in the baking department?! I have to say this...I AM KATNISS!!! Not because I can shoot a bow and arrow or anything (although that'd be awesome), but because my husband is an awesome baker just like PEETA!! :) (If at this point you are lost because you have no idea who Katniss or Peeta are then get your booty to your local library and check out The Hunger Games. It's a delicious read!!) Happy Baking!! Stay tuned for more cakes! Katniss even gets in the kitchen in future posts! :)

Visitors!!!

In March we had visitors come to Walla Walla!! We were excited, because we don't get too many visitors out our way. (Hint, hint...come and visit!) My brother Brigham came with his sweet family. Brig and I had such a fun time going to college together. And after we both got married it got even more fun going on double dates and hanging out all together. I've missed hanging out with Brigham and Tyra! Thanks so much for coming guys!! Walla Walla loves you! Here are some of the highlights of their visit.
Mario Cart!

Yes, Lliam is sitting on the bumbo chair. He called it his "racing" chair!

All the cousins were super sweet with Wyn and Myles. Whenever I would put Wyn down, Lliam would come over and show her a toy. So sweet!

While the babes were all tucked away in their beds we ROCKED out!!! Brig and Ty had never played Guitar Hero before, so of course we had to introduce them to it. And they fell in love with it!! Brig and I would trade off singing. Kenny was mostly on guitar and Tyra was a born drummer! We started having competitions of who could have the best duet! Tyra and I won naturally :), but Kenny and Brig were so hilarious. I'm pretty sure either one could replace David Bowie completely!
Brig with vocals, Ty on guitar and man, I'm a stiff looking drummer. Loosen up! :)

More Mario Cart races!

Outside with the cousins!

Myles and his mower.

Myles and Phoebe discovering mud puddles together.
Phoebe and Nedra discovering our Lightning McQueen four-wheeler.
And little Pheebs blowing bubbles.

I LOVE this picture!

It was complete luck that I got it, but man she's so darn sweet!

I promise we didn't just play video games. We explored Walla Walla too. I can't find my other pics though. Anyhow, thanks for coming Brig and Ty! We love you guys!!
