Toys Taste Good

Okay, so Myles can hold some of his toys now. I just wanted to put down what I imagined his thought pattern to be.

This is awesome! I can hold my toy.

I really want to put it in my mouth. I think I will. Just a little taste

Wait, I really want to put my fist in my mouth. I can't decide.

I WANT THE TOY!! Sweet satisfaction.

Thank you Daddy for putting this toy in my hands.

My little "Lost Boy"

I got this adorable bear suit for Myles from my life-long friend, Kitty! :) I was in love with it the moment I saw it! Myles is just darling in it and Kenny thinks he looks like one of the lost boys from Peter Pan. So two mornings ago we had to have a photo shoot!

We decided to invite all of Myles' friends to the shoot!
I love this last picture, even though I know I desperately need to take a photography class to improve my picture taking abilities. :)

Needless to say, I am excited for Halloween!

Victory!

I know I said I'd report the following day, but things went so well that next night that I thought it was a fluke and didn't want to jinx us by writing about it. However, we've achieved victory! Yeah! Ever since that night he cried he's gone to sleep in his crib with no problems! This whole daylight savings time change has disrupted us a little though. We'll have to work that one out, and we're still working on naps. They are still pretty darn short, but I am much more confident now and I know we'll get it! :)

Here's Myles all happy in his crib in the morning! :) I finally caught a smile!

This is just a funny picture!

Determined...

First of all, thank you for all your positive comments and support! It really helped this morning. Myles' sweet smile this morning also helped!

Last night went like this:

Myles in crib asleep from 7:50-8:15pm

Crying started at 8:15pm and lasted until 9pm

Mommy let out her breath and said, "That wasn't so bad."

She spoke too soon.

Whimpering started around 10pm

The crying began again at exactly 10:22pm and lasted until 11pm

Daddy took baby from crib, cuddled, then handed to mommy to nurse.

Baby fell asleep and mommy cuddled with him the rest the night.

I know, I promised to put him back in the crib after he ate, but I didn't. However, this is my goal (again) tonight. I know it will be worth it! I will report tomorrow!

Sleep tight everyone! (Especially you, Myles!) :)
p.s. That picture was when he was a day or two old. My baby is growing up so fast!

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...

Sorry for the lack of picture on this post, but I just needed to write something. Okay, so tonight is the big night...Myles sleeping in his crib for the first time. I always said I would never take my baby into bed with me, but that is the only way he would sleep for an extended period of time these past couple of months, but tonight is the big night for him to learn to sleep on his own. I've spent so much time thinking and worrying about how to get him into his crib and now I'm sort of sad that he won't be in my arms tonight. He's such a sweet baby.
I sang him his songs and rocked him to sleep then gently put him in. He started crying 5 minutes later, which I expected. I let him cry for 5 minutes, went in, patted him, gave him his pacifier, and left. I promised myself that is the only time I will go in. So if he starts crying again, it's up to him to get himself back to sleep. Unless it's the time he usually eats, then I will feed him and put him back in. This is so exciting and scary all at the same time. I really hope he still smiles at me in the morning.

Boxer Baby

So we gave Myles a bath the other day and afterwards we decided to put him in his duck bathrobe and slippers. He looks likes a little boxer with his robe on. I just love these pictures of him! Now if we can only catch him when he's smiling! :)

And then he fell asleep after we took a million pictures. And yes, he's sleeping on a pillow. So far that is the only way he will sleep without one of us holding him. Silly baby!

A Baby Story

Okay, so this has taken me forever to write but here is a shortened version of our little Myles' trip to Earth.

My Contractions started at 1:30 am. I wasn't sure if they were the real thing because they were coming fast and long and it was just weird. So, I started working on the paintings I had made for Myles' room. That didn't last long, because I got sick and ended up in the bathroom.

I woke up Kenny and we left for the hospital and got there at 4am. Everything moved super fast. I was at 3 cm when we got there and by 10:30am I was dilated to a 10. All the nurses were so excited and kept telling me I'd have the baby before noon. However, the doctor wanted me to labor down for a while. So we waited for Myles to move down more. At 12:45pm I started pushing. The nurses, once again, thought Myles would be born within the hour. We were super excited and rearing to go. I was pushing and doing a good job. Things were progressing. Then the stumbling block hit, a new nurse came in to give our nurse a break. This new nurse was very nice, but not helpful. She kept talking and missing the contractions, and then she had me turn on my side to push. That just threw off my groove. Our spirits were low as we saw the clock reach 2pm. Our old nurse returned, but she was disappointed that no progress had been made since she left.

The doctor came in to check on us and she told us that Myles was face up and that's why he was so hard to push out. She tried to turn him, but he wouldn't budge. Finally, around 4pm everyone was excited again. The doctor was amazing! She really got me going and everyone else. She was really encouraging! Then finally at 4:48pm our little Myles was born screaming! :) He had such a big cone head, but I am happy to report he has a nicely shaped head now. :)

All in all, it was such a great day! I never understood why some women would say it was such a great experience, but I loved that day. Even though the pushing was forever long, I loved it! I never want to forget any of the details. And Myles is such a joy to us! The first time I held him his hand was doing that Star Trek, "live long and prosper" thing. It was funny. He's the best baby in the land!
