Carving a Pumpkin and Haunted Houses

We were a little late this year, but the day before Halloween we finally carved Myles' pumpkin. When Kenny got the knife out Myles said, "Don't hurt my pumpkin!" He was just quoting a Little Critters book that we've been reading a lot in preparation for Halloween.
He decided on the face and he even ate roasted pumpkins seeds with me.

And before we carved Myles' pumpkin we made our Haunted Houses.
We decided to do it while Wyn was asleep so she wouldn't want the candy. She's got her mommy's sweet tooth! :)

He's getting so good at smiling for the camera.

I love it!

Yay for Fall fun!!

Happy Birthday Wynni Boo!!

My little darling girl turned one on the 25th! I just can't believe it. This year has flown by. It makes me excited and sad at the same time. Time always seems to fly by when you don't want it to.

Some things about Wyn:

*She is a very pleasant baby. Always has been.

*She started sleeping through the night at 6 months all on her own!

*Crawls and stands like crazy and sometimes stands all by herself, but no walking yet.

*She loves bananas, grapes, and cream cheese! Oh, and sippy cups!

*She is a great eater and will usually try new foods if I'm holding her, but is not so interested while she's sitting in her high chair.

*She's a peanut! She started out to be a bigger baby, but we have quickly found out that she is just meant to be little. She weighed 16 lbs. 9 oz. a few weeks ago.

*She has always been good about nursing, but doesn't eat as much as her brother did. That threw me off a bit in the beginning.

*She, like Myles, had an allergy to dairy products for about the first 9 months, but now she loves them!!

*She loves any toys that have a face.

*She loves to share her food (even if you don't want to.)

*Her first word was, "Dada." Followed a couple days later by "Mama."

*She adores Myles.

*She prefers to be held by Mommy than any other person, but loves looking at her Daddy from Mommy's arms. :)

*As of right now, she has 8 teeth. Teething has not been so pleasant with her.

*She likes to dance, especially when Myles, Mommy, and Daddy are dancing too.

*She LOVES jewelry and knows how to put it on. She has stacking rings that she doesn't stack, but she puts them on as bracelets! :)

We love our Wynni Boo!

She snuck a bite of one a couple months ago.
She's our little ladybug. That's why we made her ladybug cupcakes.

Yay for Wyn turning one! And yay for being all caught up on blogging!!! :)

Birthday Time! I'm 29!!

At the beginning of September I turned 29!! Where does the time go? That day was fun. Kenny had to work nights that week, so he slept for part of the day then he woke up and I went and got my hair cut and colored. It was nice to get out by myself for a couple of hours. Then I came home to a fabulous cake and my most favorite people. Kenny made me a chocolate cake with marshmallow creme filling and a mint ganache on the bottom with a chocolate ganache on the top. DE-lish! Thanks for a great birthday!!

Families Are Forever

In July Kenny and I took a trip with the kids to St. George. It's a little over three hours away, but that is the temple district we're in. It was so nice to go and feel the spirit and peace that is there. It's hard to be this far from a temple, but I think it's good for us in the sense that we really have to plan when we go.

We also got to see my Grandma and Grandpa that live down there. I wish I had taken pictures of our visit with them, but I forgot. It was really fun to talk to my Grandma and hear some of the stories she had about raising children and all. I'm just so grateful for the gospel and the knowledge that we have that we can be together forever. I love my family!

Little Wyn Lady. She totally looks photoshopped in this picture, but she's not. She was really there! :)

Sister Wives

Back at the beginning of August I did a brave thing. I went on a 7 hour car ride with the kids by myself! We went up to the Boise area to visit my little sister, Tess. Her husband Ryan was gone for the week and Kenny was working nights. So we decided it'd be a fun week of sister time. And it really was!
I had never heard of the TV show 'Sister Wives' before, but Tess was telling me about it. It's a reality show about this polygamist family. Anyway, after a few days Tess and I decided that the husband sharing would be NOT cool in any way, but it would be fun to have a sister wife around to talk to and help out all day long. That week we became each other's sister wives, minus the husband sharing. So really we were just two sisters having an awesome week! :)
For some reason blogger won't let me type above that first picture, but we started out our week with a romantical evening watching the season finale of The Bachelorette! Tess was so sweet to oblige me in this request. She is not really into the show, but got these awesome treats so we could party-it-up while watching. Her old roommate Lindsay came to watch too. It was so fun! I do have to say though, I think that is my last season of the show. I just feel like it's time to stop watching. So, hold me to it cause man that show is addicting!

A few days into our trip we decided to go to ZOO BOISE! I love the zoo and was dying to take Myles since he had never been. I really can't remember why I thought this sign was funny enough to take a picture of. Do you Tess? Maybe it was because we couldn't find the lions and giraffes forever!
There were a couple of fun slides there that the boys loved!

Myles and I riding on a real tiger! :)

Myles and Graham in the "Jeep" The Zoo Boise website advertises this contraption as a "Jeep." Not exactly what I was picturing. They also advertised that they had strollers to rent. Correction: they have ONE stroller and it was rented. We were not impressed with that part of the zoo.

Tess and Graham coming down the slide!

The "Jeep" wasn't terrible, just so hard to push and Wyn couldn't ride in it, because the seat belts couldn't be tightened at all. So I carried her the whole time and pushed the crazy jeep.

Tess and Ryan recently got a puppy, Lars. Myles was wary of Lars, but loved his kennel!

Myles and Graham actually played together more this trip. And when we left they even gave each other a hug. It was so sweet!

Wyn and the T-Rex! I started moving this dinosaur toward Myles and he got kinda freaked out. I think he thought it was moving on its own. It was pretty funny!

We also got to meet up with some friends, that we miss dearly, from Walla Walla. I wish I had taken pictures! Thanks for meeting up Despains!! It was so great seeing you guys!

Sister Wives for a week!

(Again, minus the husband sharing. Don't want any weird rumors started! :))

We were so bored when we got back home with no one to play with or talk to all the day long. Until next time!! We love you Smiths!

Cakes!

Since our Nemo cake we made back in March we've gotten really into making cakes and cupcakes. It's so fun, but I might also add STRESSFUL! No, it's not that stressful, but there's so much more that goes into than I ever imagined. We really enjoy it though. Anyway, here are some of our creations.
This Little Mermaid cake is one that we actually sold. And I can't claim any of it. This was Kenny's project. He did an amazing job!

This cake we saw on a website called www.bakedecoratecelebrate.com. It's a german chocolate cake with chocolate coconut buttercream frosting. The frosting was amazing and addicting!

This is our lemon cake. Lemon pound cake with lemon buttercream icing and marshmallow fondant. We were just playing around and this is what we came up with.

This Tinkerbell cake is one we made for our niece's birthday in May. She loves Tink. Kenny did the hard part (tinkerbell) and I helped in making the butterflies. Kenny is quite amazing with his free-hand fondant art. We've decided to invest in lots of cookie cutters! It makes shaping fondant so much easier!!!

Well, that is all for now. :)

Lake Tahoe

We're back in blogland! I'm trying to play catch up before Wyn's birthday in 5 days. We'll see how I do!! :)

At the beginning of May we took a trip to Lake Tahoe for a family reunion with Kenny's side of the family. It was good to see everyone, but definitely an interesting trip.

For starters, it snowed! :) It was really pretty though.

My little Wyn Lady all ready for church. She was a little over 6 months in this picture.

Getting a bath in the sink!
We got there on a Saturday night. On Monday, mid-day, in a bowling alley, Myles threw up all over me in a bowling alley. He was running around all fine, then he came to me and wanted to be held. All of a sudden I realized he had diarhea (sorry for the details). I started walking to the bathroom and the lady who owned the alley was like, "Oh there's no changing table in the bathroom, but you can change him on the pool table." I was like, "Trust me, you don't want this one on the pool table!" How many kids have pooed on that pool table?! Ewww!! Anyway, before we hit the bathroom he started throwing up. This was his first time ever, mind you. I started calling for Kenny. Immediately my sister-in-law came to help me clean up myself and Myles in the bathroom. She was AMAZING! I couldn't have done it without her. For the next day and night Myles continued to throw up. He threw up five flights of stairs all over me. It was so CRAZY, to say the least. Myles and I didn't leave the hotel room for 2 days. Thankfully though, Wyn and Kenny didn't get sick. I started to get sick, but thanks to prayer I got better quickly. The only fun thing about Myles being sick was that he wanted to snuggle so much. I just love when he snuggles me.

This is Myles with his Auntie Krista and Uncle Kent. Doesn't Myles sort of look like a grown man in his underwear and socks? I love this picture!!

The craziness of the trip continued on Thursday when I went with my mother and sister-in-law horse back riding. I was nervous to go. Horses kinda scare me. You just never know what they're thinking about you. The ride was fine and beautiful. As I was getting off my horse, Pearl, Krista's horse (behind me) got spooked a little and started running into me a little bit, and then I realized that my mother-in-law's horse got spooked first and had thrown her off. She had to go to the emergency room. She had broken some bones in her lower back. She was a tough cookie though. I would've been bawlin' like a baby.
Seriously, this was such a crazy trip! I hope our next reunion will be much healthier and safer. Stay tuned for more recent updates! :)
